Interview with Ava Harrison, author of Explicit

11 Jun 2018

What can you tell us about your new release, Explicit?

My new release is titled Explicit. It’s an enemies to lovers standalone romance about two broken people finding love in themselves and each other.

What or who inspired you to become an author?

For as long as I can remember I have always written, even as a small child. I’d have to say my mother inspired me. She used to tell me to write down all the stories I would tell her.

What’s on your top 5 list for the best books you’ve ever read?

The books that will always stay with me are The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons, Winter Garden by Kristen Hannah, Behind Closed Doors by BA Paris,  Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier and War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

Say you’re the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?

I would love to interview Pam Jenoff. She writes the most fascinating  World War 2 books and I’d love to know where she gets her inspiration and her methods for writing the books.

What’s your favorite thing about writing?

I love the cathartic release I get from pouring my heart out on paper.

What is a typical day like for you?

Wake up. Drink two cups of coffee. Get my two kids ready for school. Then I make my daily phone calls before working out. Once I get home from the gym I try to write before I have to pick my kids up from school.

What scene in Explicit was your favorite to write?

The scene where Lindsey and Pierce eat macarons.

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

Love your flaws. In each book I write I try to embrace an imperfection I have. Every day when I doubt myself, I repeat that saying.
