Interview with b.t. gottfred, Author of The Next God

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Next God?

This idea has been taking up a large place in my head for 25 years. But, like my character, it took my dog dying 2 years ago to inspire me to actually write it.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love mysteries and have finally started writing them, although THE NEXT GOD is not a traditional one, I do believe there’s both a literal and spiritual one at its core.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Re-reading some Agatha Christie as inspiration for my next book WEST OF DEATH.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The second to last chapter called WORLDS… I think it will be the readers favorite to read, too.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Best writing time for me is 4 am until the dogs start nudging me to feed and walk them at 6 am.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Whatever search you are on for spiritual and personal truth, is a worthy one.
