What can you tell us about your new release, What You Do To Me?
What You Do To Me is a fun, flirty romantic comedy about two individuals who are set up by the heroine’s mom. Trudy (the mom) hopes a little male attention will push her moping daughter back into the dating pool. Now, Haley’s mother doesn’t want her to actually date the Twin Cities’ handsiest handyman, and Haley would never agree to a one-night-stand. All Trudy wants is for Sam to make a pass at her brokenhearted daughter, so Haley gets her mo-jo back. That’s all. Of course, things don’t go at all like they’re supposed to, but I won’t spoil if for the readers.
What’s the last book you read?
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, which is great. It’s fantasy fiction, which I love and also write. I’m starting book #2 in his series today.
Who is your favorite couple from literature?
There are so many, but I’d have to say Westley and Buttercup from Morgenstern’s The Princess Bride. I have to admit I’ve read the retell by William Goldman and the original, and I prefer the retell.
Do you listen to anything while you write? If so, what’s your audio of choice?
I have my iTunes set at “shuffle all” and it’s generally playing while I write. I have eclectic tastes in music, so anything goes. Some days it’s country music; other days it’s pop or the blues. Depending upon what I’m writing, I might choose a particular album to inspire me. Lately, I’m into The Lumineers and music I’ve downloaded from the TV show The Voice.
What TV show have you binge watched?
I haven’t binge watched for ages, but the last time I did, it was True Blood, one bloody season after the other.
What scene in What You Do To Me was your favorite to write?
I love the scene where Haley and Sam first meet, and there’s that moment of realization when they figure out they’ve been set up.
“Do you have a motto or philosophy that you live by?
I have a couple of mottos I seem to fall back on regularly. One is: always have a plan B,C,D,E and F. The other is: see obstacles in your path as stepping stones leading you to where you want to go.
