Interview with Blaire Broderick, author of The Beginning of Everything

What can you tell us about your new release, The Beginning of Everything?

It’s a very emotional book that will capture your attention and feelings right off the first page.

What or who inspired you to become an author?

I tried my hand at writing a few summers ago – writing a few novellas here and there. I started to realize I was the happiest when I was imagining how my dramatic stories would ride out.

What’s on your top 5 list for the best books you’ve ever read?

Pride And Prejudice by Jane Austen, The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

Say you’re the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?

My first guest would be King Henry the VIII. I would ask him if he actually thought Anne Boleyn cheated on him or if it was due to her not producing for him a son. It needs to be answered, right? Right?! I totally have my priorities straight

What’s your favorite thing about writing?

It gives me a chance to truly get lost in my ideas. As I stated earlier, I can’t possibly conceive of a better way to make myself happy. I believe everyone needs that hobby for themselves.

What is a typical day like for you?

Basically, I look at everything as an obstacle between me and my MacBook. In the morning, I get the kids ready for school, I make sure the dogs aren’t clawing at each other, and I help the husband get ready for work on time. After that It’s just me and my words (and my overgrown, gorgeous plants that accompany me in my office).

What scene in The Beginning of Everything was your favorite to write?

I really don’t want to give it away, but, the ending of this book. It was incredibly emotional and I hope everyone that gets that chance to read it feels like it was my best work so far.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

“Work hard so you can play hard.”  I’m currently in a great place in my life right now and I hope that everyone gets a chance to combine their hobby with their work like I have had the chance to do.
