Interview with C.C. Wood, Author of Ensnared in Shadow

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Ensnared in Shadow?

The characters in this book were secondary in earlier books in the series. Marcus, the hero, hasn’t had the easiest life and I wanted him to finally get his happily ever after. He deserved it and so did Merry, the heroine.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love just about all genres but I tend to read paranormal romance, romantic comedy, urban fantasy, and romantic fantasy.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Since the honest answer to this would be as long as one of my books, I’ll just say that I’m eagerly anticipating releases from Elise Nova and Ilona Andrews this year.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The scene where Marcus and Merry, the two main characters, meet in person for the first time. It’s awkward, a little sweet, but also has undercurrents of tension.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Even though I have a perfectly good desk, I prefer to use a lap desk and write in bed or sit on my couch.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

I always try to write the story I want to read, first and foremost. Then, I work to make it better.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

I want them to feel as though they have a connection to the characters and I really hope they enjoyed the story!
