What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Sorceress Transcendent?
I love the idea of two super badasses being domestic together. We can have it all, there’s no reason to choose between a day of wreaking epic destruction and a cozy cup of tea afterward!
Also ages ago now I saw a viral tweet about all of us who love that moment when your mortal enemy arrives at your door and says they have nowhere else to go, but then I was having trouble thinking of examples in written media. So I wrote one.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
My favorite genre to read is fantasy romance. In writing, I always circle back to high fantasy.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
On the top are Seduction of a Psychopomp by Elsie Winters since that just dropped, and Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson since my hardcover just arrived!
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
When the heroine returns from a very murdery battle, flabbergasted to find the most dangerous man she’s ever known in her kitchen, wearing an apron, making her soup. They’re both trying so hard to take care of each other, and I love how sweet they are even when bantering about poison.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I have four cats, and honestly all of them should get a writing credit for holding me in place so I’m unable to leave my laptop.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
“To thine own self be true.” All my books are about heroines making space in their worlds to be the most true version of themself possible, and I believe that’s how we’re all most powerful.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
How much can be possible if we can dare to dream boldly enough.
