Interview with Cindy Kline, Author of Secrets, Lies and Murder (Molly McGuire Mysteries Book 8)

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Secrets, Lies and Murder (Molly McGuire Mysteries Book 8)?

This is the 8th installment of the Molly McGuire Cozy Mystery Series. I was inspired to start writing from a young age. However, I quit my job right before Covid hit and couldn’t find another one, so decided to finally write (and publish) my first book.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love cozy mysteries! That’s pretty much all I read, especially historical cozy mysteries. I would like to someday write a cozy mystery set in WWII London.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Surprisingly, not a cozy mystery. I just downloaded the book “The Boys” which tells the story of Ron and Clint Howard. I’ve been watching reruns of “Andy Griffith” and Opie was just so darn cute!

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Any scene that has either Finn or Hinky. It’s fun to have the two leprechauns interact. The older one who has great knowledge, and the younger one who is directed by his emotions.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Not really. I do have a “writing” mug, but it’s more of a reminder that I should be writing vs. being lucky.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

I try to treat others as I would like to be treated.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That it was enjoyable and they would like to visit Ireland one day!
