Interview with Claire Contreras, author of Half Truths

What can you tell us about your new release, Half Truths?
It is a romantic suspense novel set in a university. The heroine is a transfer student who goes looking for answers as to what happened to a missing girl she used to know when she gets reeled into a secret society.

What or who inspired you to become an author?
My father was a writer. I knew I would follow in his footsteps when the voices in my head wouldn’t shut up.

What’s on your top 5 list for the best books you’ve ever read?
The Bronze Horseman, The Shining, Since We Fell, The Nightingale, Pretty Girls

Say you’re the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?
Stephen King. I’d probably ask him if I could borrow his brain for a little while.

What’s your favorite thing about writing?

Finding out what happens to the characters in my story.

What is a typical day like for you?

Pretty boring. I do the typical mom routine in the morning, try to get a workout in, write, write, write, and back to the mom routine in the afternoon.

What scene in Half Truths was your favorite to write?

It’s too spoilery to say, but it’s in chapter forty-nine
