What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Like A Redwood Seed–Stronger Than The Flames?

I had a very unusual childhood and young adulthood, people were always telling me to write a book!

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Like A Redwood Seed–Stronger Than The Flames, what would they be?

“Alive” by Sia.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

My favorite genres are tied – historical fiction and fantasy. I read everything though, and a lot of memoirs as well.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

The Scarlet Badge – a memoir.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The dogsled scenes were pretty fun to recall and write.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I write notes on random pieces of paper wherever I happen to be at the moment when words or ideas pop into my head.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Keep putting one foot in front of the the other.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Never give up.
