Interview with Fiona Forbes, Author of Amaya’s Legacy

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Amaya’s Legacy?

Fiona is a die-hard Trekkie. Fascinated by the issues which are raised by the interaction between different cultures, she raises the following question: “What would humans sacrifice in return for a perfect Earth?”

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Amaya’s Legacy, what would they be?

Not good at music. Zhan (alien, male) is half tribal, half mainstream, so maybe something vaguely tribal? Lee (human, female) is a young, cynical adventurous anthropologist – maybe something adventurous?

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Yes, though I also read mystery, romance, paranormal and thrillers.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Mostly concentrating on my launch. Favourite books: Outlander series; anything Star Treck; Lord of the Rings series.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Love scene with the protagonists in the middle of the book; attack on them by a sinister resistance movement.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I love my MacBook Pro?

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Something good is going to happen today; carpe diem!

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

There are two sides to every story; keep an open mind; anything is possible.
