Interview with H. Anne Henry, Author of Three Times Burned
20 Jul 2021
What can you tell us about your new release, Three Times Burned? Three Times Burned is the third installment in The Remington Hart series. It is a turning point in the series where we see Remi hone her supernatural abilities, go to great lengths to find answers to some pressing questions, and come into her own as a leader among the Amasai. What or who inspired you to become an author? I have loved to tell a tale for as long as I can remember, but it was watching the indie author community as a whole revolutionize publishing that inspired me to step out and publish my own work. Indie authors are some of the most generous and hard-working people out there. What’s on your top 5 list for the best books you’ve ever read? Listing only five top books is hard! But here they are, in no particular order: The Hobbit, JRR Tolkien; Grit, Angela Duckworth; Dune, Frank Herbert; Dark Lover, J.R. Ward; and Dead Before Dark, Charlaine Harris. Say you’re the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask? I would invite J.R. Ward and just let her talk. She is so candid and unfiltered, and she has me in stitches every time I watch her live videos. What’s your favorite thing about writing? Writing is an escape from the world, much like reading. I’m able to dive into another time and place and truly lose myself in it. What is a typical day like for you? I get up very early every day, even on weekends. Since I have three sons, a husband, and a full-time career in the corporate world, I carve out writing time before anyone else is awake and before my other responsibilities begin. What scene from Three Times Burned was your favorite to write? My favorite scene to write was the climax. Without giving too much away, it is a big, messy battle and the repercussions will be felt through the rest of the series. Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by? Be kind, always.
