What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write If You Hate Me?
I’ve been writing hockey romance for a decade, and I wanted to start a new world, set in Toronto, Canada, where I’m from. It was so fun to write in Canadianisms and build a brand new team and a brand new world.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of If You Hate Me, what would they be?
Wait by NF for the hero; hate u/love u by gnash featuring Olivia O’Brien.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Romantasy all the way. Especially fae, and recently, Dragon Rider War College.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Fragile Sanctuary by Catherine Cowles; My Anti-Hero by Tijan.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The first kiss, where all the tension that’s been building between them explodes.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I always need bubbly water and coffee, and a playlist in the background, and I’m happiest when my cat is sleeping on my closed laptop.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
The importance of found family and showing up for yourself and the people you love.
