Interview with J.W. Webb, author of The Emerald Queen
07 Jan 2019
What can you tell us about your new release, The Emerald Queen?
The Emerald Queen is the first book in a new trilogy that forms part of my ongoing epic fantasy series Legends of Ansu. The novel can be read as a standalone, or as book 7 following on seven years after the disastrous events concluding book 6- The Glass Throne. As with all the other books, The Emerald Queen features beautiful sketches by a Tolkien artist. – Queen Ariane seeks her missing Cousin feared lost in a hostile land. She dreams of a seeress by a lake who warns she must find Tamersane, or an old enemy will return to swallow up her country. The Emerald Queen fuses myth & magic, with gritty action and wry humor. If you are a fan of epic fantasy in the style of Joe Abercrombie or G.R.R. Martin then you will love The Emerald Queen. Pick up your copy today.
What or who inspired you to become an author?
I was born a story teller – it’s an affliction. And JRR Tolkien, him too 🙂

The Lord of the Rings, Tigana, (Guy Kay,) Knight of the Swords, (Michael Moorcock) The Broken Sword (Poul Anderson) and Lyonesse (Jack vance.)
Say you’re the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?
George R.R. Martin. How he now views Game of Thrones compared to his Song of Ice and Fire.
What’s your favorite thing about writing?
Killing off characters – joke 🙂 I like to see where my characters take me, they control the stories – I’m just the bloke with the pen.
What is a typical day like for you?

What scene in The Emerald Queen was your favorite to write?
Stogi the Thief meeting his horrible family.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
Carpe Diem! and as a former trooper in the Queen’s Household Cavalry, honi soit qui mal y pense
