What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Man Upstairs?
A guy my best friend was/is seeing, actually. He reminded me of a Julian, and has a… past. It’s what inspired the story. That and the fact I LOVE big age gaps. I had crushes on teachers from when I was really young, and dated my 42-year-old boss in real life when I was 18. It’s always a hot one for me.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Yes. I love reading filth as much as I love writing it. I had a dirty old paperback of short filthy stories when I was quite young, and I ADORED them, even from then.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Too many to even list. I’m very behind on it. I also love psychology books, so I have some on archetypal myths and legends at the top of the pile.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The dirty whisk.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
No more quirky habits in writing than in real life – which are quite a few!
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
One who looks outside, dreams. One who looks inside, awakens. Carl Jung.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
The whisk.
