What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Dangerous Flame?
I’m intrigued by the thought of what mark I may have left on those in my own past, whether close friends or acquaintances. How do they remember me? Do they remember me or am I a footnote that reads, “OHHH…yeah, that was her name.” It’s interesting to imagine if the character you were in the past was the good guy or the villain in a story and if you were to meet again, would the roles be the same or would they change?
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Dangerous Flame, what would they be?
Like a lot of authors, music is a huge motivator in my writing. In this case, I know the Daughtry/Lzzy Hale cover for “Separate Ways” (originally by Journey) played on repeat along with “Leave a Light On (Talk Away The Dark)” by Papa Roach when I worked on this project.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I will read just about anything, but I think the romance spectrum is where I’ve found my home.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
There are so many! One in Three by Tess Stimson, Unnatural Death by Patricia Cornwell, The Haunting of Brynn Wilder by Wendy Webb. I think I’ve got an Elle Thorpe book on the stack as well. I’m also a “comfort reader” so, I’ll go back and re-read books that I absolutely loved.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
Certainly the end and epilogue. I really enjoyed giving Charlie a satisfying conclusion.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
Don’t we all?? I definitely have my favorite spot on the sofa with my laptop and tea mug…but a playlist curated for that particular project is a must!
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Just be a good human. Nothing more, nothing less.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
That the book was fun!
