Interview with Katherine Villyard, Author of Immortal Gifts

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Immortal Gifts?

On August 22, 2021, my writer’s group had a one-time vampire story challenge. The idea was to “prove” that “it’s been done!” is not a REAL objection. Of course, it’s also a pandemic book, so about loss and isolation.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Immortal Gifts, what would they be?

“Who Want to Live Forever?” by Queen.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

SFFH. Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror!

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

The Historian and A Dowry of Blood.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Ludwig’s comic relief scene at the family reunion.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I sometimes type and sometimes dictate into my phone when I’m tired.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Being a Jewish vampire is really hard!
