What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Fix You (The Irish Rogues Book 3)?
A year ago, I got the idea for a mafia romance series. While writing the first book (the bare bones of the FMC in Fix You), Maeve, came to me. The trauma she experienced molded not only her life but also her brothers. Writing just one scene where our MMC, Raphael, asks her to dance at a wedding reception turned into a full blown romance that I hadn’t originally planned on. It was a pure moment of the characters writing themselves! After reading about these two as side characters in the first two books, readers were suddenly clamoring to get Rafe and Maeve’s story. While Rafe’s book was about four books down the line, I bumped it up because of the reader love!
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Fix You (The Irish Rogues Book 3), what would they be?
This series actually has titles that come from songs. The original three books were songs by the Civil Wars: “Poison and Wine”, “Dust to Dust”, and “Safe and Sound”. With this book, I once again looked for song lyrics that incorporated the characters. There’s so much of the lyrics to Coldplay’s “Fix You” in both of these characters.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I’m an equal opportunity reader. I love fiction, non-fiction, contemporary, romantasy, dark romance, Rom Com. I’m a total mood reader.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
The Syndicater by RuNyx, and Pucking Sweet by Emily Rath are two books I’m looking forward to losing myself in over the Thanksgiving holidays.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
My favorite scene to write was Maeve surprising Rafe for his birthday…at his sex club.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I think I have reluctant cat on lap writing, lol. If I’m ever writing in my chair in the bedroom, I usually have one or two cats draped on the back of the chair while my velcro pittie likes to lie at my feet.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Anything worth having is hard work.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
That you’re stronger than you could ever imagine, and you can ride out the choppy waters of the emotional storms.
