If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Face Me Off (Cessna U Hockey Book 2), what would they be?
“Whatever It Takes” by Imagine Dragons represents Ryan’s determination and willingness to sacrifice for his father and responsibilities while grappling with his own dreams.
“Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield captures Maddy’s transition from her parents’ expectations to embracing her artistic side and forging her own path.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
My favorite genre is definitely romance! I read a few nonfiction titles on occasion, but nothing beats a couple falling in love.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
My list is never ending. Lol. After I finished Face Me Off, I did enjoy a few books, but I’ve added more since.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
Maddy has been living under her parents’ thumb for far too long. She comes home after an argument with her father and takes out her frustrations on the canvas. It’s an emotionally packed scene and a pivotal part of the plot. I loved what she accomplishes from that moment.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I would love to have a quirky writing habit, but I just write whenever I can steal time.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Years ago, I was at the bookstore looking for stocking stuffers for my children. On a bookmark, a shortened quote, “Never, never, never quit” from Winston Churchill stood out to me. Needless to say, each child received that bookmark, and I have repeatedly reminded them of his words. It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t live by that motto myself.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
To never give up on your dreams. They are yours and nobody else’s.
