Interview with Kimberly Readnour, Author of Love Schemes, Clouded Dreams

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Love Schemes, Clouded Dreams?

This small-town romance is a continuation of the Sugar Creek Falls series. The characters played a major role in book one and screamed for their own book. Although I had backed myself into a corner with their ages, it resulted in one heck of a forbidden age gap!

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

My favorite genre is definitely romance! I read a few nonfiction titles on occasion, but nothing beats a couple falling in love.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I don’t even know where to start. It’s so long. I mainly listen to audiobooks these days since I drive for work.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I would have to say my favorite scenes include the meddling mothers. It turns out Ansley isn’t the only one scheming. 😉

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Quick answer is no quirky writing habits. Since I still work outside of writing, I have to steal time to get the words in. Unless you want to count coffee. I do like a steaming cup of joe sitting beside me while I write.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Years ago, I was at the bookstore looking for stocking stuffers for my children. On a bookmark, a shortened quote, “Never, never, never quit” from Winston Churchill stood out to me. Needless to say, each child received that bookmark, and I have repeatedly reminded them of his words. It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t live by that motto myself.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

I wanted this book to be light and funny but full of love. My goal was for the reader to feel fulfilled and happy when they put the book down. Nothing is better than finishing a book and having that “swoony” feeling. Ahhhhh, true love.
