Honestly, I’d never in a million years thought I’d ever write a stepbrother story, but when my editor suggested it, I thought it sounded fun. I grew up watching The Brady Bunch and always wondered what might happen if Greg and Marsha hooked up!! LOL!! Much to my surprise, the book sort of wrote itself. The hero–Garrett–from my Shamed series, is a grouchy bear (putting it mildly), and once readers see why–because he’s been lusting after his stepsister for countless years–they’ll understand why. I love all of my books, but this one is especially dear.
You’re hosting a literary dinner party. Which three writers are invited?
LaVyrle Spencer, Judith McNaught, Louisa May Alcott. If she minds her manners, may Jane Austin pretty please tag along, too?
What will your next adventure be?
I’m living it!! Now that both kids are out of college, we’re getting our home ready to sell with literally no place to land. My fingers are crossed for a sexy, little condo…
Which book from your childhood or teenage years has stuck with you as an adult?
Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell, ALL Judy Blume books, hundreds–maybe thousands?–of Harlequin romances!! LOL!!
What’s your favorite thing about Oklahoma?
Friendly people!!
What are you currently craving?
Cheetos!!!
What scene in Stepping Over the Line was your favorite to write?
It’s a bit of a spoiler, but there are a series of scenes in a park when Savannah sees Garrett after a long absence that really tore at my heart. The awkward factor was off-the-charts for both characters.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
Always, ALWAYS, not matter how bad it sucks–take the high road.
