Interview with Lauren Blakely, author of The Second Chance Plan

What can you tell us about your new release, The Second Chance Plan?

If you love second chance romances that really tug on your heartstrings then I definitely think you’re going to like this Second Chance Plan. It’s a story about first loves coming back together five years later and working through the challenges that kept them apart in the first place. I’m so excited for readers to turn the pages in this story and get to know Kat and Bryan!

What scene in The Second Chance Plan was your favorite to write?

I had a blast writing the scenes when they keep running into each other in the elevator, and at the office and at the coffee shop and then they text later that night. Those scenes are “getting to know you again” type of banter and conversation and they form the heart of a second chance romance.

Why do readers love Second Chance Romance so much? What about it appeals to the reader?

What really works about a second chance romance is that moment when the hero and heroine see each other again and all the feelings start to come back. That can be such a delicious moment in any type of second chance romance and it sets the agenda on how the story might play out, whether it would be an enemies to lovers or a friends to lovers, and what are the hurdles for forgiveness. Ultimately though, what’s so endearing about a second chance romance is the opportunity for redemption in the arena of love. It’s an opportunity to overcome mistakes, to learn together and to grow together and I believe that’s something that appeals to all of us.
