What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Final Steps?
I wanted to start a new series. My last Zachary Blake novel was a “whodunit” mystery novel and I enjoyed writing it. People love “You Have the Right to Remain Silent,” so I thought I would start this new series with a mystery. I also enjoyed writing a female protagonist. Can’t wait to hear from the ladies.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of The Final Steps, what would they be?
The theme song to “Murder She Wrote.”
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Legal Thrillers, like I write. I also like anthologies and fantasies. I am in awe of the talents of Ken Follet and George RR Martin. I also like spy novels.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
City Dark by Roger A. Canaff. Catch up on the Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva. I’ve got 3 to read.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The suspect returns home early and traps our two sleuths into hiding in the suspect’s home.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
No quirks, but I do like to write on the same computer. I’ll sit Shiva when it dies!
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
“Justice, Justice, Shalt Thou Pursue-” Deuteronomy.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
I hope each of my novels teaches the reader something they didn’t know about their rights or the law.
