What can you tell us about your new release, Dance in the Dark?

Dance In The Dark will leave you cringing and on the edge of your seat. Each time you think you have Adam figured out, the story has a twist. – Chris

This is my first thriller and I love that the killer is so twisted. I also love that he’s someone you want to hate but you can’t. He has a story, just as we all do, and you will want to know his story. In book 2, Chris and I wrote it like we were the characters. This series is the most fun I’ve had writing in a long time! – Melody

What’s the last book you read?

I read all the time. I read romance, thrillers, YA, New Adult. I consume all I can. The last book I actually read was a JS Scott book since we did a project together not long ago – Melody

What or who inspired you to become an author?

This question is always so tough to answer. But the main inspiration was actually my daughter. She was in middle school and wrote a 60K word book, and it was good! I realized if this was something I was ever going to try, it was now or never. I couldn’t believe how well it went for me. – Melody

What’s your favorite thing about writing?

My favorite thing about writing is becoming each character as I tell their story. And the peace and quiet of the job, LOL – Chris

My absolute favorite thing about writing is the fact that everywhere I look, there’s a new story!! I no longer see a person sitting on a hill. I see a person deep in thought as they write a love-letter to a soldier who they haven’t seen in five years. I see people, places, items in a new way. Everyone and everything has a story just waiting to be told. – Melody

BAM. You’re a superhero. What’s your superpower?

Easy, flying – Chris

To read minds!! I know, I know, this is too cliché, but seriously, if I could open people’s heads up and look inside without doing damage, I soooo would. It drives me insane not being able to know what people are thinking about when they tell me one thing and I know that’s not what they really think or feel. So yes, I will choose to be a mind-reader – Melody

What’s in your Netflix queue?

Dexter, The Ranch, and Breaking Bad. A little bit of crazy with a touch of humor – Chris

The Ranch, season 2. My hubby is patiently waiting for me to finish my deadlines so I can get back into watching that with him. I’m not a big TV person at all! Which is a huge change. I used to watch way too much television. But I’m obsessed with YouTube right now!! Almost every night before bed, I will watch an hour or so of scary stories on YouTube as I do puzzles on the table or on my iPad. – Melody

What scene in Dance in the Dark was your favorite to write?

Wow! Again, another tough question. I love the dark stuff. I really, really, really love the dark stuff. I think my favorite scene was the prologue. He’s just so twisted. I loved writing the scene from Janice’s POV too since I had to be in Adam’s head so much. I love how Chris and I do this book, though. I love going back and forth with him on it. It’s been a fun adventure. – Melody

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?

“Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing.” – Chris

For sure!! I have quotes all over my office, my garage, which is my gym, and my house. My favorite saying is “Dance like nobody is watching.” I haven’t lived that enough in my life. But I do more and more as each day passes. Life is too short to care what haters think of you. I have never once looked at a person who is smiling, laughing and/or dancing and thought they looked dumb. I have looked at them and wanted to join in. So now I do. Now I only want to be with those who will join in with me. I want to dance in my car, in the rain, in different countries. I want to dance for me and only me as if no one is watching. I’m a much happier person that way. – Melody
