What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Self Love Notes: Uplifting Poetry, Affirmations & Quotes?
The effects of adversity can permeate throughout our lives, influencing choices and decisions. It may also impact family dynamics by setting up generational cycles unresolved issues go unchecked. Putting myself first by focusing on self-care and doing what I need to maintain positive well-being not only benefited me, but those who love me. I hope that my thoughts, poetry, affirmations, quotes, and meditations will be useful to you as you grapple with whatever you are going through.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
It is so difficult to choose just one genre, as I am drawn to a number of different kinds of storytelling. Besides poetry which is my first love, I am intrigued by literary fiction centered around a strong character that evolves and triumphs.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Her Name is Knight by Yasmin Angoe, Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed, Verity by Colleen Hoover
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
The last chapter entitled Uplift is my favorite as it reminds us all to celebrate ourselves no matter where we are along our journey.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I am my most creative at zero dark thirty long before anyone else is awake and must have my turquoise butterfly mug within reach.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
I want my readers to remember that growth and transformation are an ongoing journey. Remember to pause and celebrate your progress and success. Be kind to yourself.
