What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Exile?
I wanted to write a military thriller without it all taking place on Earth in the present time.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Exile, what would they be?
This is fun. I listen to a lot of music when I work. For Cole I would pick ‘2112 from Rush’, for Jen-E Mace it would have to be ‘Words from Missing Persons’, and for Golt Rourke I think I have to say ‘Some Kinda Hate from The Misfits.’
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
I’m a huge fan of thrillers and epic tales.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
The rest of Ryan Cahill’s ‘The Bound and The Broken’, I’m rereading all of Terry Goodkind, Jack Carr’s ‘Red Sky Warning’ and Ed Mylett’s ‘The power of one more.’
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
Meeting Golt Rourke.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I wear monster slippers and I always have to have a candle.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
My entire philosophy is the phrase that perhaps won over my wife, at every turn I have stared at the problem and asked ‘What else you got?’
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
The easy thing is generally not the right thing.
