What can you tell us about your new release, Terrier Transgressions?
I’ve always wished I could talk to animals, so Pet Whisperer P.I. is the ultimate creative wish fulfillment for me. Only our heroine, Angie, never asked for her new ability and doesn’t always know what to do with it. In Terrier Transgressions, Angie takes on her second case, trying to prove the innocence of a local handyman who’s been accused of a double murder. The only witness is the victims’ Yorkie. Unfortunately, he hasn’t quite figured out that his owners are dead and the last thing Angie wants to do is break his poor doggie heart. Hilarity ensues.
What or who inspired you to become an author?
I think, more than anything, my love or reading is what encouraged me to start writing and sharing stories of my own.
What’s on your top 5 list for the best books you’ve ever read?
Hmm, that’s a tough one. I’m a fan of many genres and routinely enjoy everything from classic literature to psychological thrillers, historical fiction, and of course cozy mysteries! Some of my favorite series are Angie Fox’s Southern Ghost Hunters, Amanda M. Lee’s Wicked Witches of the Midwest, Nancy Warren’s Vampire Knitting Club, Mildred Abbott’s Cozy Corgi Mysteries, and Dale Mayer’s Lovely Lethal Gardens. I love that I get more than one of each, because I seriously get addicted once I start a new series I love!
Say you’re the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?
“Welcome to Good Golly, Miss Molly, the ultimate reading talk show. Our first Veronica Roth of Divergent fame. Joining her, we have the Legend Marie Lu, Margaret Atwood of Gilead, and Suzanne Collins from District 13. And now, for your viewing pleasure, we’re having them fight to the death! I mean, uhh, their characters. Yeah. Let the games begin!”
What’s your favorite thing about writing?
My favorite thing about writing is meeting the characters and developing them into full, fleshed-out people (or animals). I love it when that happens!
What is a typical day like for you?
A typical day involves pajamas, my laptop, the company of my six dogs and one long-suffering cat… Also coffee—lots and lots of coffee.
What scene in Terrier Transgressions was your favorite to write?
I am almost always laughing while writing this series. Even when things get a little heated for our heroine, I just love visiting her world. My absolute favorite scenes are any that include her crabby tabby companion, the talking wonder, Octo-Cat. It is so much fun to write that guy! That’s probably why he’s in almost every single scene.
Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy you live by?
Work can be play when you love what you do. Also keep Chihuahuas nearby in case of cuddle emergencies! My two Chihuahua mixes sleep in baskets on top of my desk while I’m writing. They are obviously the secret to any success I’ve had so far!
