What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write In Between?
In my 3d novel “Blame It on the Wind” a young man dies. “In Between” is about how his mother copes with his death, a theme that is near to my heart – for a long time ago, I had almost lost my child.
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of In Between, what would they be?
For Brigitte, some Bach, definitely, but not that she would acknowledge it. For Christian, a French chanson, something emotional, touching, something that makes you cry.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Yes, literary and contemporary fiction above all. But I also love crime stories, especially the funny ones.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
Where to start! Let me just say that on the top of the pile is Paul Murray’s “The Bee Sting”.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
I have two favorite scenes: the dancing lesson and the storm scene.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
No, I don’t think so. I write at my desk, on my laptop, surrounded by bookshelves that cover all my walls. I drink my tea from different Disney mugs – and sometimes I listen to instrumental music.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
“All is well in my world. Everything is working out for my highest good.”
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
It is ok to accept help: we all lead each other home. Everything is possible.
