What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Shot Through Time?
I always wondered how a British soldier, fighting in the American Revolutionary War, if transported into the future would respond to the fact that Britain lost the war and learn that it is now a strong ally of the USA. I enjoy writing historical fiction. Adding time travel to the scenario, created a major challenge. Could I write this kind of story? I made the attempt and wrote Shot Through Time. Whether I’ve been successful, will be up to the readers to decide.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Historical fiction, mystery thrillers, nature and travel memoirs.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
The Wager by David Grann, and The Cuckoo’s Calling Book 1 by Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling).
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
I most enjoy writing scenes where I can put my protagonist in a confrontation. There are two confrontational scenes in Shot Through Time that are my favorites. 1) Where Sergeant Black saves Dr. Morris from a mugger. And 2), when Sergeant Black is wandering on his own in Charlestown and comes face to face with the dangers and wonders of a modern city.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I write in our sunroom where I’m constantly being entertained by birds, squirrels and by other wildlife. These creatures have become my muses.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Don’t worry! Everything will be okay.
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
The historical facts that apply to the two time periods. How these are viewed by those on both sides of the aggression and how the impressions of these realities change through time.
