What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write The Factory: A Thriller?
I read an article in Rolling Stone about human trafficking and how prevalent it is in the state of Minnesota. I created my own characters and put them in a similar situation. The result was a believable thriller!
If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of The Factory: A Thriller, what would they be?
Karter and Kash would have the theme song from “The Dukes of Hazzard” (Good Ol’ Boys)
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
My favorite genres are Mystery, Suspense, and Thriller. I try to write what I would read myself.
What books are on your TBR pile right now?
The Dark Corners of the Night by Meg Gardiner.
What scene in your book was your favorite to write?
My favorite scene to write was when an old cowboy named Ed Becker helped Karter and Kash. He wasn’t meant to be a significant character but he really came to life. He was a walking “Code of the West” and reminded me of many of the old cowboys I grew up with in Arizona.
Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)
I write on my couch with the television on mute. I know it’s weird but I can’t stand too much silence or too much noise while writing.
Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?
Be yourself if you ever hope to be somebody
If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?
I want my readers to feel what this family went through during this horrific time. If they can get a glimpse into how life changing human trafficking can be for the entire family, maybe we can all make a bigger effort to help stop these events from happening in the future.
