Interview with Willow Winters, author of Damaged

What can you tell us about your new release, Damaged?

Well, the first thing is that I wrote it with my heart and I wanted the pain that this couple goes through to be very present for the reader.  My main early feedback is that their hearts ACHED for both of them and that Evan, my hero and the husband in this case, made them all sorts of wrecked.  And it made me happy to hear that (I know I’m mean) because I cried a LOT writing this book.

What advice would you give your teenage self?

Oh gosh – steer clear of men named Adam.  I made that mistake more than once.  Sorry, Adams of the world!

Who is your favorite fictional character from literature?

Too hard to pick one!  I have to say that I do love Edward Cullen (how can you not!). Although I saw the movies first, and I was actually rooting for Jacob! **runs and hides**

Which books would we be surprised to find on your shelves?

Hmmm Maybe Lipstick Jungle would be a little surprising?  Or how about the Hobbit? Is that shocking?

If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or dead, who would you choose and why?

Probably my grandmother on my father’s side.  She passed in 2001 when I was only 12 so she missed a lot of my life.  But the main reason I’d want to talk to her is because she always wanted to be an author.  She had manuscripts in her bedroom.  Obviously publishing back then wasn’t as easy as it is now.  So I’d love to hear her stories now, because back then I was too young for her to tell me them.  I have a feeling my grandmom wrote romance.

What are you currently craving?

Salts – It’s super late right now and my late night cravings are salty!  Maybe Pretzels or dark chocolate with sea salt… and now I need to go for just a moment before I finish this interview.

What scene in Damaged was your favorite to write?

My favorite scene is when Kat caves in, but knows it’s only for one night.  It’s hot and sexy, but full of emotion because she’s made the final decision and just wants a memory to hold on to where she feels the love she knows they each have for each other, even though after that night, they’ll never be together again.  I got teary-eyed all over again.  Don’t worry, I believe everyone deserves a HEA.  It’s why I write.  My lips are sealed after saying that!
