When it comes to a #MeetCute, the possibilities are endless! From the second I heard the phrase #MeetCute, my mind couldn’t stop running from one idea to the other. How in the world was I supposed to decide on just ONE #MeetCute for my story? Still, there was one story that had been on my drawing board for a while that I hadn’t quite figured out how to put into a book but it was the epic #MeetCute so I knew it had to work its way into this series.
So, let me tell you about the true story of the Deuce of Hearts. I was sitting in my office one night when one of the personal trainers walked by. He stopped to say hello to me and for the first time in the five years that we’ve worked together, I noticed a tattoo peeking out from under his sleeve. Leaning forward, I squinted my eyes, because getting old is real downer, and I saw the edge of a playing card. Then, because I’m not one to hold anything back, I pointed at it and asked what’s the story behind the tattoo.
Kevin lifted up his shirt sleeve and smiled. He explained to me that he’d met his wife at a party at a time that was way before cell phones. They spent the evening chatting, laughing, and getting to know each other. Later in the night, she was getting ready to leave with her friends so he frantically looked around for a piece of paper to get her phone number. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find anything except a playing card… a two of hearts. He tore the card in half, wrote his number on one half and her number on the other half, and thus, that was their #MeetCute.
Every good love story starts with a #MeetCute. I should’ve known when I met my former husband in line for a Port-a-Potty that it wasn’t the #MeetCute that leads to happily ever after, I should’ve probably recognized he was full of it then! In the meantime, I’ll wait for my own #MeetCute that I love to write about. So watch out, one day, you might find my real life #MeetCute in one of my books. Happy reading!
